What is your educational philosophy? KHMC follows the Montessori philosophy of educating the whole child to support their natural ability to learn. We foster academics, knowledge building, creative thinking and compassion for others.

What are the qualifications and experience levels of your teachers and staff? Most of our teachers hold advanced degrees including Montessori training. They range in years of experience from 5-25 years.

How do you communicate with parents about their child’s progress and daily experiences? Our staff sends daily updates through Procare and each child is formally assessed twice a year.

What is your approach to handling challenging behaviors or conflicts among children? Each classroom has a peace area and the children are taught to resolve their conflicts with each other. Challenging behaviors are managed by the classroom teacher through communication.

What health and safety measures do you have in place, and how do you respond to emergencies? All staff is required to take CPR, First Aid, and Child Abuse training. We do monthly firedrills, tornado drills, and quarterly lockdown drills.

What health and safety measures do you have in place, and how do you respond to emergencies? Mercy has a full-time nurse, and our protocols align with the Department of Health. We have close partnerships with law enforcement and first responders and a robust emergency management plan.
